When: January - June
Where: Practices on MDI and games around the state
Director of Coaching: Michael Curless

The travel program is geared toward the serious soccer player. Tryouts for the travel team occur in mid January for the Winter/Spring season and in May for the Fall season. AFFC travel teams will play against teams around Maine. The Winter/Spring season will run from January through June and the fall season from September through October. Travel teams typically practice two times per week with games on the weekend. Teams will practice indoors during the winter in gyms around MDI before going outside in April.
To ensure a uniformity and consistency of player development, all travel teams will have one practice a week run by the Director of Coaching Michael Curless, a nationally licensed soccer coach with over 20 years of soccer coaching experience. AFFC teams play a creative, possession oriented style of soccer with a focus on attacking play that highlights the skills of the players, is fun to play and entertaining to watch. Although travel teams will play in competitive leagues and tournaments, winning is less emphasized than learning skills and developing player confidence. It is AFFC's philosophy that teams will naturally be more successful when players enjoy the game, are highly skilled and feel respected by their peers and coaches.
